Guild Web Site

For those who don't know what I do when I'm not spinning, weaving or making the Guild News look pretty, I'm a web designer and am the code monkey responsible for the new look of the Guild's web site. The Guild has had a web site for quite a while that gave the basic information about where the Guild was located and how to get in contact, I took what was there, threw in the essentials from the Guild News and have expanded the site.

The address is http://www.spin.net.au/~nsweave

Newer browsers don't need you to type in the http:// (it stands for hypertext transfer protocol), but older browsers will. That squiggly thing in front of the 'nsweave' is not a typo, it's a tilde and web site addresses is about all I use that character for, so not all of you may have even noticed it lurking on your keyboard. On full sized keyboards it's to the left of the numbers, but on laptop and compact keyboards it can be down to the right of the space bar. They actually do move the keys on you.

All of the groups, classes and workshops are listed on the site.

Barbara Adair was been wonderful in e-mailing me snaps of the goodies on the display table each month, so we have a gallery of photographs to some of the amazing work Guild members do to show off to the world.

The Articles section of the web site is a bit smarter than the rest of the site. Articles are fully archived by date and category and, as the site grows, will be searchable. You can also leave comments on the articles (thanks to Anthea Stewart for her kind words). So if you've found something useful or spotted something that needs to be added or changed, feel free to make use of the comment form under each individual article. You can read the article in entirety on its individual page by clicking the permanent link icon # in the extract footer.

The Calendar is an online version of the Guild News Diary Dates and Links is a page of links to other guilds, fibre artists, suppliers and resources. The Links section is still a work in progress, so if there is a site you love and a supplier you deal with, let me know and it can be added to the list.

If there are any comments, suggestions or questions about the site, anything that you really like or dislike, please feel free to let me know — via Red Wolf

First time I have looked at this site - found it very interesting and easy to move around and find information. I'm pleased to see that the Guild has a site and its now up to members to send information, photos etc to keep it up to date and interesting. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible.
Kind regards Helen
