Correspondence Course in Machine Knitting
Macknit (the NSW Machine Knitters Association) feels there may be some of our members who spin their own yarn and would like to machine knit it. This course may be convenient for them. Country members are very welcome.
In 2010 Macknit Inc introduced a correspondence course for beginner machine knitters on Japanese machines. It has been well received in NSW and they would like to extend it.
The first course covers the use of a single bed machine only, so the ribber is not needed to start. The course has been devised and written by Helga Guyot, a well-known teacher, author and mentor from Sydney and is for Brother, Empisal and Singer machines.
As each student enrols, s/he will be sent Lesson 1, which requires several samples to be sent back to Helga for comment and assessment. Helga will return these samples together with Lesson 2 to the student. In this way the student progresses through all six lessons of Course 1. By the end of this course a complete beginner will be able to knit a simple jumper. The student can start at any time and work at their own pace and there is no time limit.
