Wollongong Handweavers and Spinners Group 50th anniversary
Wollongong Handweavers and Spinners Group celebrates 50 years of continuing meetings this year. They will celebrate at their annual exhibition and sale to be held on Saturday, June 18 in the Fairy Meadow Community Centre with lots of golden decorations, invitations to past members and the general public and a celebration cake to make the day a success.
A display of historical items created by members will be on view, along with current creations available for sale.
Tea, coffee, cakes and lunch will be available.
They have also compiled a book of their history, the contents which include:
- A welcome message from President, Joyce Wilcock
- Current member profiles and photos of their work
- A history of the group detailing past office bearers, workshops and visits, exhibitions and general details of a variety of group activities
- Some easy patterns using fibres
- Handy hints for using fibres
- Delicious recipes
- Useful websites
- Acknowledgements of help and funding
It runs to approximately 60 pages and includes many colour photos of work done by members past and present. The book will be launched at the exhibition where it will be on sale to members and the public.
