$190 ($230 non-members)
Two-day course: Sat – Sun, 13 -14 January 2018
at Guild Rooms, Burwood
Have you just learnt to weave, or are you a lapsed weaver and have the following questions in your head: What will I weave? Can I get a warp on properly? Study four different structures for a 4-shaft loom. Learn the techniques: Repp (warp-faced), Basic Rug (weft-faced), Double Weave, and Honeycomb. We will review warping a loom and check looms are correctly prepared for a round-robin of weaving samples using each technique.
Skill Level: Advanced beginner: able to warp a 4-shaft loom and bring it ready to weave
Equipment and Preparation: 4-shaft loom, at least 3 shuttles, pick-up shuttle if you own one, basic weaving equipment (threading/sleying hooks and bobbin winder if using boat shuttles), masking tape, scissors, pencil, pen, tape measure, graph paper (8 squares to an inch if possible), notebook, … and of course, a coffee cup. Bring your loom to course, pre-warped with requested threading. Specific threading instructions sent to each participant.
Materials: $5 (pay on the day), yarn advice sent with threading details, otherwise they will be available from the tutor.
