Brioche makes a wonderful fabric. It can be squishy and warm for winter, or just plain lovely knitted with cotton for summer weight garments. It is a two-sided and therefore a reversible fabric. Start with a great brioche cast on and discuss a couple of others that work for brioche. Knit a flat two-colour brioche stitch, progressing to shaping with right and left slanting increases and decreases. Finally, cast off using a superb brioche technique as well as discuss other suitable options. It will be a busy day, but you will come away with a sampler and the knowledge to enable you to look at a beautiful brioche pattern such as the Geveldak Scarf by Nancy Marchant, shown to the left and say confidently, “I can do that”.
