Ready to take your spinning and fibre preparation skills to the next level? In Beyond Basics, you will learn to spin and stabilise singles yarn and to chain ply. Prepare fibre using hand carders, spin long-draw and finishing to create a warm, soft woollen yarn. Create mini-skeins in three shades of grey using white and black fibre by carding, blending and spinning. Spin alpaca fibre – including fibre preparation, discussion on use, blending and finishing. Wheel mechanics will be discussed each week (set up, maintenance, ratios, adjustments etc).
Skill Level: Must be able to spin a balanced 2-ply yarn
Equipment: Spinning wheel, bobbins, lazy kate
