SS7 Explore Shadow Weave with Liz Calnan
$190 ($230 non-members)
Two-day course: Tues – Wed, 9 – 10 Jan 2018
at Liz Calnan’s Studio, Epping
This weave structure can be used for scarves and wraps; at denser setts, cushions, bags and upholstery; and in closer shades, as fabric for garments. Students thread their loom at home (instructions sent) and work on their own loom during the workshop, creating a variety of patterns. Most of the design work will be on graph paper for understanding of the design structure. More advanced work can be designed on weaving software and this will be demonstrated. Students will be able to design their own patterns at the conclusion of the workshop.
Skill Level: Advanced beginner to intermediate: must be able to warp and thread a loom, winding the warp with two threads in hand. Suitable for weavers who are working towards the Intermediate CHW.
Equipment & Preparation: A threaded loom (instructions sent out prior to workshop), weft and warp yarn in two colours. Threadings work well on 4, 6, 8 or more shafts.
Materials: Small material fee (TBA) for notes
