Lace Narratives
Sydney-based textile designer Cecilia Heffer has created her own lace travel story at her first exhibition at the Damien Minton Gallery. Taking the airy beauty of traditional lace, she has translated it into the 21st century with traditional and new textile technologies to create a collection of contemporary works. Her materials - rust, natural dyeing, digital printing and machine embroidery, evoke both the past and present.
Lace Narratives can be seen as a series of textile paragraphs that make up a collective story. Some of the works are pictorial, some abstract, all contain a story of connection and belonging to place through observation of landscape.
