Experimental Weavers

The Experimental Weavers Group meets once every two months at the Guild rooms on a Sunday between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
2010 Dates: August 15, October 17, December 5

The Experimental Weavers group welcomes new members who are interested in weaving mainly on 8 shafts or more. It is a forum to exchange ideas and explore the drafts in new and old publications. To each meeting we take our current work, good and bad, our mistakes and our weaving problems, share our knowledge and new websites we have found. It's an enjoyable weaving day, so bring lunch as well!

For further information please contact Liz Calnan at the Guild.

Exploring Felt Group

A group for people interested in the many aspects of felting - wet, Nuno, needle and combinations of all three.
The Group has decided to change our workshop meeting day for 2010. We intend to change to the third Friday of each month from 10 am. The reason for the change is, it was often confusing using alternate days and the third Friday of the month misses some public holidays.

2010 dates: August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19.

ENQUIRIES: Lynette Hall
Bring: email the Guild for a materials list

Kniting and Crochet Group

We would like our new crocheting and knitting group to be a friendly group, where we leave our problems, aches and pains at the door, and share a few hours of fun and learning. Bring whatever you are working on, some "show and tell" and any questions you may have that are crochet and knitting related and we will do our best to try to help. We don't claim to be experts but we are experienced knitters/crocheters and what we lack in knowledge we make up with enthusiasm. All members welcome. Please come along and make this a success.

When: every 3rd Thursday of the month till further notice, starting on March 18, 11am to 3pm in the small hall below the Guild rooms. The group will not meet in April because of Easter and the Orange Forum.
Bring: your lunch, tea and coffee provided
Cost: $3 attendance fee
Enquires: Brigitte Sieber or Helen Thomas

Japanese Textile Study Group

We propose to meet every two months in 2010. If it suits most people we propose to alternate meeting on the Sunday after the Guild meeting and the Thursday morning before the upstairs Guild rooms open. on Sundays we will continue with the Japanese plan outlined at the beginning of 2009.

On Thursdays we might extend our research into other Asian countries because we all have lots of show and tell from trips to Thailand, Laos, India, etc. It will be fun to learn more about our regional textiles and the different aspects that fascinate our members. There are several books in the library that would be very useful. We would also like to continue with hands on projects and should be able to come up with some interesting techniques.

Where: Guild Rooms
Bring: Japanese garments and garment fabrics; temari and other needlework arising from 2008 meetings.
Cost: $3 facility fee

2010 Dates: Sunday July 25, Sunday August 29, Thursday Oct 28, Sunday Dec 5
