The 166th Kiama Show was held recently and the spinning, weaving and felting classes were again very successful with more than 85 entries!
Our judge, Denise Stephens did an excellent job judging such a large number of entries. She commented that the work exhibited was very diverse and of a high standard.
Our lovely display attracted many favourable comments and the area was abuzz with visitors who enjoyed the spinning, weaving, bobbin lace and felting demonstrations. Many thanks to the members of the Wollongong Handweavers and Spinners who demonstrated during both days, to Kris Supierz for running the childrens workshops, to members of the Bobbin Lacemakers for their participation and to the Illawarra Feltmakers who demonstrated and ran felt ball-making workshops.
Prizes were awarded to the following exhibitors:
Susan Rodgers, Jane Burman, Ingrid Wass, Barbara Wyles, Brian McCarthy, Agnus Tukk, Shirley Connor, Margaret Bell, Eleanor Brash, Kerry Rourke, Marilyn Wyatt and Melinda Binkins.
The major prize winners were:
- Most successful spinning exhibitor: Brian McCarthy
- Most successful weaving exhibitor: Jane Burman
- Most successful felting exhibitor: Eleanor Brash
- Most outstanding exhibit, all sections: Brian McCarthy
Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to all the entrants for their support which made the Kiama Show spinning, weaving and felting section so successful yet again!
