Theo Moorman, an English weaver (1907-1990) developed this threading and treadling technique to get a tapestry effect in a faster and less labour intensive way. However it’s a 4 shaft weave that can produce a lot of effects. Helen likes to create textured fabrics using this technique, however, it can be used for imagery (tapestry-like effects), freeform designs as well as creating textured fabrics using novelty knitting yarns that can be used for upholstery, wall hangings, placemats, cushion covers and clothing.
