In four successive Sundays, learn to spin commercially prepared wool and raw fleece into yarn. In each class, we discuss the spinning wheel parts, mechanics and ‘ how, when and why’ to make adjustments for your spinning. Notes are provided and you will have some fun homework each week.

For social spinning, art yarn spinning and spinners who would enjoy taking
their spinning further by exploring new techniques.
There will be monthly demonstrations of spinning techniques:
with demonstrations of art yarn techniques eg coils, tail-spinning, core spinning,
add-ins etc.
For those who want to further their spinning techniques, Marie Clews will
demonstrate a range of plying techniques. Marie’s plying techniques can be
used with both standard singles and art yarn singles to create a variety of
effects.
Colour from the Wild – Naturally dyed textiles sale and exhibition of work. The dyes are made from natural ingredients and are sometimes decorated with objects such as leaves which produce their own colour. There will be scarves, yarn, garments and accessories.
We welcome all to the exhibition, then visit the stunning textile supplies shop fill with yarn from all types of sources, including wool, and silk alpaca, to name a few, together with the member’s gallery, which features handmade items which members create for sale. You can also source fibre for felting and spinning.
Then you can wander through the house and take the view from the balconies.

Let’s take a journey and tiptoe through the menagerie of exotic down fibres. Such as Cashmere, Camel, Yak, Llama, Mink, Super soft and cuddly Angora Rabbit, Angora Rabbit blends plus Alpaca. We’ll also take a little peek at Musk Ox and its undercoat fibre Qiviut.
